Gautama Buddha also known as Siddhartha Gautama or simply Buddha (circa 563 BCE – circa 483 BCE) was a sage on whose teachings Buddhism was founded.  Siddhartha Gautama is the primary figure of Buddhism and accounts of his life, discourses and rules are believed to have been summarized  and memorized after his death by his followers.
